EYFS
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as a guidence to planning activities for the individual children in my setting. This guidence is produced by the department for children, schools and families and provides advice and information on supporting children's learning and development and welfare. I use this information as well as conducting observations on your child to enable me to plan suitable activities.
I provide every child with their own 'Learning Journey' book. By using photos and linking the activities to the Early Years Framework the books show the child's achievements and how we are working towards the next learning goal. This book is shared with you on a regular basis to keep you updated with their achievements. Once your child reaches their fifth birthday or leaves my setting these books are for you to keep as a memory of their early years.
I also use a daily diary as a method of communication. This diary stays in your childs bag so it arrives to me and then goes home completed at the end of each day. It will include information about what activities we have done that day, food eaten, naps taken and any milestones achieved. I will also use this to update you with any information that is relevent to the care of your child and it enables for you to do the same.
